As part of the Hyuga City’s Relaxed Surf Town project to promote tourism in the area, their Japanese website needed to be localized and translated into English. This is how WOVN.io got involved in this fun project.
Hyuga is a famous surfing spot in Japan and, at the end of September 2017, the city hosted the first International Junior Surfing Competition in Asia (2017 VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championship).
The city’s promotional website not only includes information about surfing in Hyuga, but also about local cafes, sightseeing spots and hotels that unfortunately would have been overlooked by visitors. They have also created a promotional video that keeps getting new viewers.
The original version of the website was made by a Japanese company based in Miyazaki in collaboration with Swedish illustrator Jonas Claesson. In order to attract more foreign tourists, the City of Hyuga decided to make the website available in English as well.
By using WOVN.io, the City of Hyuga managed to deliver a bilingual website on time and adjusted to their budget. More languages will be added in the near future. WOVN.io gives full control of website editing to the user with no need for a developer’s intervention. Users can choose between human and machine translation options to suit their localization budget.
WOVN.io is a website localization service; it enables you to multilingualize your website in less than 5 minutes without the help of a developer. For questions or comments, please click here.
